When to move up

When do I move up a layer?

Move up when you can access the layer’s core skill most days, including on a ‘bad day’, and recovery time after stress is shrinking.

A simple test: Can I create a small 5% shift in 2–5 minutes when I need to? If not, stay where you are. Foundations first.

Layer 1 - Regulatory Foundations - Common Signals

Overwhelm. Shutdown. Panic. Dissociation. Sleep disruption. “I can’t settle.”

What this layer gives you:

A body you can come home to, so everything else can grow on stable ground.

    Short stabilisation collections (for days when you can’t yet do the full curriculum).

      Layer 2 – Worth, Safety from Shame and Agency for Action - Common Signals

      Shame. People-pleasing. Harsh self-criticism. Approval hunger. Fear of needs.

      What this layer gives you:

      “My value isn’t on trial and I can act without collapsing under criticism.”

        Layer 3 – Clear Thinking and Self-Directed Action - Common Signals

        Procrastination. Scattered focus. Task avoidance. Overthinking. “I know what to do, I just can’t do it consistently.”

        What this layer gives you:

        Focus, follow-through and flexibility — powered by steady foundations.

        If this layer won’t “stick”, strengthen Layers 1–2 underneath.

          Drifting. Numb ambition. “I’m functioning, but what’s the point?”

          What this layer gives you:

          A life that feels chosen, not just managed.

            Anxious/ avoidant cycles. Boundary guilt. Conflict dread. Burnout from caring.

                Part B is best done once Part A feels stable under pressure.

                  How to use the Grow videos

                  Start at Layer 1 and train little + often, 1–5 minutes a day.

                  Choose one skill. Repeat daily for 2–4 weeks. Track small 5% shifts, not fireworks.

                  If you get a small shift on more days than not, move to the next skill in the layer, or the next layer.
